[sloth is.... an indulgence. and mineo is a little too easily predisposed to it sometimes? for example, when he's in the planetarium and he - after trying to jump high enough to touch the ceiling enough times - just... lays down on the floor? yeah. he sprawls out, gaze to the starry "sky" and seems like he's just thinking.

honestly not that bad in here, he thinks.

but he shifts when he hears someone else enter and then - ]

Oh... It's you, Fukuda-san. Hey.

[he's a little spacey, but he is polite]

[He's mostly just been wandering but hey!! A friend.]

Mineo. [He nods.] You look like you've been overwhelmed by the enormity of the universe.

I mean.... kind of?

[he'll admit it and shut his eyes]

This isn't even my universe.... I don't think.

[he's like. not good at math or science but he doesn't recognize these planets even?]

[Fukuda looks up at the scattered stars for a long moment.]

No? I never liked looking at the night sky, so I don't think I could tell the difference.

Do you get - uh, "overwhelmed by the enormity of the universe" too?

week 0, satuday post trial

[Well, Mineo's a pretty upbeat guy, so seeing him broody doesn't sit well with Fukuda. He's not sure he can really help, but he'd.... like to try???]

You know, I think we did the best we could, all things considered.

[it's a quiet, guarded response even as mineo moves to look over at fukuda]

I don't want to disregard everyone's efforts.

or rather - he's so focused it's probably eerie, especially considering the fact that he hasn't... moved? it seems like as soon as trial let out, and they were forced out of the conference room, he sat down outside and leaned his back against the door

ended up stuck here, leggies out. please trip over him]

[no Fukuda actually wandered off first, but now he's wandering back and depositing a plate with some bao on Mineo's lap.]

You should eat, Mineo.
[We have been trialing like all day.]

he looks down at the bao and he manages a bitter laugh]

... think Vira-san said something about not eating until I deserve it.

That's a mean thing to say... It's not like the burden of finding the murderers is entirely on your shoulders, you know.

Unless you think none of us should eat again?

week 1, tuesday

[So. Creepy jail, huh!! Fukuda seems pleased to see Mineo, though.]

Ah, good morning, Mineo. I was just thinking, there are a couple of rooms around this building that seem stranger than the others, wouldn't you say?

I'm wondering if they're related to the Avatars somehow...

[that's his actual theory as he pokes around]

[He's following after Mineo at a few paces. Distance...]

That seems plausible. I can't imagine why there would be that purple crystal room for any reason other than theming. But then if this is because of one of the avatars, I wonder what that could mean.

Hmm.... I dunno. One of them got in trouble before, I guess? In an old timey kind of way....

week 2, friday

[well mineo is

exiting the common room!! so if he sees fukuda on his way out he'll pause for a second. before sighing]

[Fukuda looks a little depressed at the new level of curtness but he's also not surprised.]

Mineo. It looks like we're going to have a trial again.

[sengokus]

It does.

[which he has feelings on but admittedly mineo has feelings on everything]

.... it'll be busy again, one way or another.

Aah. It should be even more difficult, with three people dead. Unless two of them were killed at the same time. It would be nice if we could solve one this time.

week 7, thursday evening

[holeful]

[Well, if Mineo's going looking for Fukuda, he's going to have to go all the way up! Because at this moment, serial killer #2 has made his way up to the shrine. He's just sort of meandering up the path, passively taking in the nature. And then he spots Mineo.]

Hello, Mineo. You've been working hard.
[He just sort of looks sad. Then again, he usually sort of does?]

[sengokus]

[admittedly the shrine is one of mineo's favorite spots - so it's not hard at least. he pauses a little bit at the greeting - before sighing]

... I've been doing my best. I heard the same for you, Fukuda-san.

[a beat]

[that a detective figures things out, huh]

Haha... I haven't been good for much. But I thought you could use some encouragement.

I figured you wouldn't want to hear much else from me, anyway.
