I thought it was her - that's normally how it goes. Incriminating evidence in investigations, you really do have to make your best estimate based on it... but we also have more stuff. Not just talking about time for a trial but even - mens rea. [CAN YOU BELIEVE ENOMOTO MINEO IS MAKING ME LOOK UP LAW BECAUSE HE CANON CITES IT SOMETIMES] Intent. A reason.
[ well... she's not going to like, argue that he isn't an idiot. but he did show his competence in trial today, so her words are more steely than vicious. ]
We all have a reason to kill.
[ just by the nature of being here, and having agreed to 'indulge,' she can think of plenty of reasons people might do so. ]
It's possible we should've questioned her motives more—or the lack thereof. But in a place like this, it's natural to assume the worst of one another.
But she even had Molly-san defending her - and maybe they were just making each other more suspicious, but both of them were so... sure. So confused when her staff showed up.
[so - what the hell happened?
his brow furrows]
The system itself is broken - none of that should've been expected to be done well with only nine hours. But it's still so... fucked. How it all went down.
It is broken. I doubt it's within our power to fix it.
[ All they can do is get better at handling it all. She thinks back to Beau's shock as the staff showed up, her own resolve wavering then and as soon as she saw the skull.
Vira does not flinch away from the question on her mind. ]
If the official verdict's Not Guilty, and all of the evidence pointed to her way too perfectly... then that means that someone set up a trail for us to find on purpose. And our mistake was thinking that was outside the realm of possibility.
...Yes. I believe someone stole her staff while she was inebriated, and framed her. As you say, it was all very neatly done.
[ so deliberately staged. every lead pointed at beau, and by the time they could start to doubt it, it was too late. ]
But have you noticed anything strange about this place in general? The Avatars said we had all the pieces we needed to figure this out, but I wonder if that's true. If the answers are there, if we simply communicate with each other.
[ could they have really found the true culprit? ]
... I don't know. I still don't know if I got a full clear picture on what happened with the skull - can you give me the facts again, Vira-san?
[a beat]
And - talk to Takeru if you haven't already, to be honest. I can help as much as I can especially when we're actually out in the field, but he's better at actually putting stuff together.
He seems a difficult person but I will consider it.
[ actually she's more on sasazuka's wavelength's than mineo's but he doesn't need to know that ]
...Of the strange effects that people witnessed on Thursday night, I saw a skull being toyed with in the dark. [ in the ??? room. ] I could not get a good look of what was there—but it being knocked around matched the hollow clattering noise that everyone heard before we were put to sleep.
When I woke, there were bone fragments all over the ground. I was able to pick these up—others could see them as well, though we could not identify them as much.
But admist the mess, I could not find the skull. It was only during trial that I saw it again. I'm aware that many people were witness to strange illusions, so I cannot be sure that something was actually in the room with me after the doors locked, or if it was simply a vision... but Beau was certainly trapped elsewhere.
So if whoever had the skull was the killer, then that was the indication to me that Beau was not them. I had thought that she could still be involved, but...
[ apparently not. ]
It is also worth mentioning, perhaps, that I have heard that skittering, scratching noise before Thursday as well.

It was the room with all the pods. I was looking around, and it felt as though something was... watching me as well. But I think it ran past me before I could get a clear view of it—I believe it might have had fur.
[ it's probably fine. ]
And yes, I don't believe anyone else was there with me. Or not that I noticed.
[ watch we just missed someone from curfew check or something ]
I haven't had the opportunity after Tamaki's death. [ she brings it up without flinching, because this is business. ] I do intend to ask them, though they have been sparse with details. They didn't seem to know what I saw in the laundry machine either, though perhaps it was just Wrath.
[ ...backing up a bit. ]
Do you know anything about was in the laundry room?
When we arrived, I went to learn how to use the machines. But when I looked into the one with a stuck door, there was something being washed. And it had limbs. I couldn't discern much else about it before I lost sight of it entirely, I'm afraid.
That's hard to explain. I'm not really clear - it's more like... what was done to him? Anyway, I probably saw the washer after you did. So the smoke, play-doh, and slime were probably because of Mahito-san getting crammed into the washer by somebody.
And then I found out later because he still smelled like play-doh somehow. Wait, does that mean that the washer didn't do its job?

[ she doesn't sound... sad, necessarily. tired is more accurate, though she's energetic enough to narrow her eyes at the 'sky.' ]
Though the longer and longer the trial went on, the less certain I was.

I'm kind of an idiot.
[he shakes his head]

The - skittering, scratching noise? Where did you hear it?
And there was no one else with you in the room who could've said that they also saw a skull being messed with in the dark?

Or do you mean something else?

Did you investigate it after the washer was broken?

You.
What?
